Angela Thomas

Angela graduated with both the National Diploma in Acupuncture and the NZCCM Diploma in Acupuncture from the NZ College of Chinese Medicine in Christchurch, having trained for four years from 2007 to 2010. She is a member of the NZ Register of Acupuncturists and an ACC treatment provider. In 2011 she became the Southern Regional Representative for the NZRA and organises local seminars and workshops for the continuing professional development of her acupuncture colleagues.

People often comment on Angela’s calm and gentle manner and they respond well to her treatments. She is building a reputation for treating people with aches and pains, scars from accidents or surgery, and mental/emotional issues such as stress, anxiety and depression. The first IVF baby Angela worked with is due to be born in March 2012 – the mother came for treatment before and after embryo transfer, which was very sucessful. Angela also volunteers her time to treat at the Linwood Community Acupuncture Clinic.

Angela’s previous experience includes studying for an honours degree in psychology (she wanted to know what made people tick, but didn’t find that out until she studied Chinese medicine), a post-graduate primary school teaching certificate (she knows how stressful and rewarding teaching can be), a publisher of educational assessments (finding out where the strengths and weaknesses are and using the information to make things better for students and teachers was very fulfilling work, and she sees now how this way of thinking has helped her become an effective acupuncturist). Angela also worked for three years as a freelance education consultant in the UK before coming to live in New Zealand with her family in 2003.

I enjoy working with people who want to have better health. Having lived through the 10,000+ earthquakes here in Christchurch, and moving into our new house only one week before the big one hit on 4th September 2010, I am very familiar with the effects of stress on the body, mind and spirit. If this sounds familiar to you, call me for an appointment to be calmed and helped to better health. Acupuncture is helpful for so many conditions – even if you think something is trivial it is worth asking about acupuncture.

Angela can be contacted by free phone on 0800 ANGELA (264352) from a landline, or 027 777 8822, or by email acupinz@gmail.com

She is looking forward to meeting you.

TESTIMONIALS

‘I visited Angela for a consultation and highly recommend her and the treatments that she offers. There are a range of treatments that do not require needles and for those that do require needles, I found that they do not hurt at all and are really very easy to manage. Angela is very gentle, careful and generous in her work and for me it has proven to be a very pleasant interlude to my day to go and consult with her as well as a very effective one.’ CH, Feb 2011

‘To go or not to go? That was the question I kept asking myself, as Angela had been highly recommended to me. As a 68 year-old woman who has lived with pain for many years, plus major operations and chronic illness as well as taking a lot of different medications, it was a huge step for me to take. But I am so glad I did, as I found Angela to be a woman of genuine dignity, compassion, warmth and a true reaching out to one with a radiance to actually listen, quietly ask questions, making oneself feel totally at ease and relaxed. So much so, I found someone whom I could relate to and tell my experiences of health, to then be told she could perhaps help. With her silent wisdom and acupuncture needles, I can honestly say I am noticing a difference in the ways my body is reacting compared to when I first went for treatment. The latest was after starting a cold and it went to my chest. I have severe bronchial asthma and was almost ready to get my nebuliser out when Angela came to my home and treated me for it. Gee!!! Afterwards I could hardly believe it as my chest was not as tight and my breathing was easier. During the next two days my congested lungs began to free themselves with slight coughing. One more treatment tomorrow and for the first time I will be well so quickly. I am truly indebted to Angela for this alone. She is the expert at helping people, never abandoning anyone. So if you are wondering whether to go or not to go, the answer is YES!! Sincere thanks Angela.’ This handwritten testimonial was followed up with an email in the evening after that last treatment to tell Angela that ‘I feel on top of the world. I feel great!’ HB, May 2011

When it was suggested that I go and have needles stuck into me to ease some long-term conditions, I was sceptical. (I won’t mention my thoughts of voodoo!) However, I thought “What the heck. I’ll give Angela a chance to prove me wrong.” Angela very craftily got information from me about poor circulation in my legs, a sore back I had had for forty-odd years, about getting cramp and having ‘restless legs’. After two or three sessions of being stuck and kneaded (she wrung my neck once to treat soreness!) I had to admit that Angela had won. My conditions had not just eased – they were cured. If you have anything wrong with you that you want to get rid of, let Angela attack you. You won’t regret it. R. June 2011
