For a long time I have been fascinated with people, our health and how this affects how we are. I grew up in England and went on to University to study Psychology. I then spent many years working with special needs children during which time I completed a year of study at the Tavistock Clinic in ‘Observational child psychoanalytic studies’. All this fuelled my desire to see more of the world, understand a greater diversity of cultures and meet new people.
So I left England in 1996 to travel through Asia, Australia and Indonesia. I arrived in New Zealand in 1998 and fell in love with the country, the people, the freedom, the space and the opportunities I found opening up for me here. I moved into the corporate world of ‘adventure based training’ – designing and running training programmes using the great outdoors. Great fun! Yet I still had a calling to work more one-on-one with people in a healthcare capacity. I then came across the Christchurch College of Holistic Healing, now, New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine.
The philosophy of this medicine and its holistic approach to healthcare completely enthralled me and made total sense!
So I spent four years in full-time training here in Christchurch where I met and trained with Lori-Ellen, the owner of Wholebody Health. From my initial training I set up my own home-based acupuncture clinic and continued studying and working in the field of Chinese medicine and acupuncture. I enhanced this further with extra training in the use of ‘tuning forks’ as a needle-free alternative (the forks utilise harmonic sound vibrations to travel the energy pathways) and also NLP training which utilises techniques to therapeutically support people towards balanced mental health and the achievement of their life outcomes.
I have become very interested in women’s health, especially in the field of physical and mental health in fertility, pregnancy, post-birth care and hormonal balancing and in August 2009, at the age of 41 years, I gave birth to my own beautiful daughter – there’s nothing like your own life experience!
As a practitioner I use my unique blend of Chinese medicine and Acupuncture, Psychology and NLP Practitioner training to enable people to move towards health and wellness. My ‘Wholebody’ treatment therapy includes acupuncture and/or tuning forks as well as listening to and discussing any life challenges that are affecting the individual’s health and I offer lifestyle suggestions for how they might support themselves.
I look forward to meeting you!
